From the garden to the table and all the steps in between.
I started The Garden Table as an outlet to talk about my favorite thing- Food! I love ingredients, grocery stores, farmers markets, food shows, cookbooks, cooking for my friends and family and of course, I love to eat! This love for food has translated over the years into a love for growing food and gardening. I started The Garden Table as an outlet to share my discoveries and my recipes. I tend to learn by doing. So I am happy to share what I do. I prefer simplicity and honestly over complication and frills. I am not trying to grow all the food my family eats. I just want to show how you can balance out growing what interests you in a fun, no stress way. While also enjoying the convenience of prepared foods and grocery stores.
I also enjoy making foods from scratch. Not because what I make at home is some how “better” or “healthier” but because I like it. I love the way the house smells when I am baking bread. I relish in the challenge of coming up with a dish which incorporates my latest harvest as well as pantry staples. Or coming up with a new recipe when there is “nothing” in my pantry. Mostly I love experimentation. I am always looking into growing new foods. How can I do it better? How can I store it better or preserve it better? What is the easiest way to make a dish so I don’t have to wash too many dishes? Let’s let go of the rules and have some fun. There are no failures, only lessons. If that sounds good to you, then feel free to follow along the journey.
